Lyrics

Christmas Eve 1975
Seen through a child’s eyes
Tucked in bed, but I couldn’t fall asleep
Hoping Santa would stop by for me

And just like the year before,
I heard the sleigh bells and a knock on our door
Followed by a great big, Ho Ho Ho
I jumped up and my mom let Santa in, but where did my dad go?

Santa and my dad
Every single time
Dad would disappear
When Santa arrived
Santa and my dad

How I wanted them to meet
We had so much in common
Santa, my dad and me

We each had twinkling blue eyes
Bluer than a cloudless sky
When we smiled our rosy cheeks would glow
There was more, if you wanted to know

We each had a teasing laugh
Silly things could trigger that
It was like, I’d known Santa all my life
I felt so loved when he hugged me goodbye

Santa and my dad
Every single time
Dad would disappear
When Santa arrived
Santa and my dad
How I wanted them to meet
We had so much in common
Santa, my dad and me

They say with age, comes wisdom

I know firsthand, that’s the truth
Oh how I long for the mystery
When I didn’t know, who was who

Santa and my dad
Every single time
And, yes, I still believe in
The magic of the season
And love beyond all reason
Santa, my dad and me
Santa, my dad and me
